Turkish authorities rescue 50 migrants in the west of the country

Turkish coast guard teams rescued 50 irregular migrants off the coast of the western province of Mugla.

A statement by the Coast Guard Command said on Wednesday that its teams had received information about the presence of irregular migrants on a rubber boat off the coast of Marmaris district of Mugla state.

He pointed out that the coast guard teams went to the area where the boat was located and rescued 20 migrants who were on board after the Greek side pushed them towards Turkish territorial waters.

In another incident, Turkish Coast Guard teams rescued 30 irregular migrants off the coast of Bodrum district, also in Mugla state, after the Greek side pushed them towards Turkish territorial waters.

The Coast Guard teams transferred the irregular migrants to the Directorate of Immigration in the state, after completing the necessary legal procedures against them.​
