Turkish army receives first batch of “Songur” missiles

The head of the defense industries in the Turkish presidency, Ismail Demir, announced on Sunday that the army had delivered the first batch of shoulder-fired Songur surface-to-air missiles.

In a tweet on Twitter, Demir indicated that the Songur missiles are anti-fighters, drones and helicopters.

He pointed out that the Songur missiles, in relation to their weapons equivalents, have a longer range.

It has the possibility of locking on the target from a range beyond the vision, and it is resistant to misleading targets (thermal balloons).

He stressed that Turkey would thus cut off its need for the outside world to secure this type of weapons.
