Spokesman for the Turkish presidency Ibrahim Kalin confirmed that the process of Sweden and Finland’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization “NATO” will not progress if Turkey’s security concerns are not allayed.

This came in statements made by Kalin after the meeting of the Turkish delegation with its Swedish and Finnish counterparts at the Presidential Complex in the capital, Ankara, on Wednesday.

“We have clearly emphasized that if Turkey’s security concerns are not resolved by concrete steps within a certain timetable, the accession process (Sweden and Finland’s membership in NATO) will not progress,” Kalin said.

And he indicated that Ankara sensed a positive attitude towards lifting Western sanctions on the supply of defense industry products to it.
