Turkey thanks Spain for its support in fighting forest fires

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu thanked his Spanish counterpart José Manuel París for sending two firefighting planes to fight forest fires in Turkey.

Turkish diplomatic sources said on Monday that Çavuşoğlu had a phone call with his Spanish counterpart, París.

It explained that Çavuşoğlu thanked Paris for the assistance provided by Spain within the framework of the European Union’s Civil Protection Mechanism.

In recent days, forest fires broke out in several states in southern and southwestern Turkey.

These included Antalya, Adana, Mugla, Mersin, and Osmaniye, which President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared “disaster areas.”

The death toll from the fires reached 6 deaths and dozens of injuries, while the relevant authorities were able to extinguish most of them.
