On Monday, Turkish authorities seized 25 ancient coins dating back to the Roman and Byzantine eras in a security operation in the southern state of Mersin.

A statement issued by the gendarmerie command stated that its teams were able to arrest two people in an operation carried out at the addresses of suspects in the Alatash neighborhood of the state.
He pointed out that 25 antique coins dating back to the Roman and Byzantine eras were found, in addition to two antique marble pieces.

The artifacts were handed over to the Directorate of Museums in the state, while legal proceedings against the two suspects are continuing.
