The volume of e-commerce in Turkey rose to 226.2 billion liras

“As of 2020, the volume of e-commerce in Turkey increased by 66 percent compared to 2019, from 136 billion liras to 226.2 billion liras.”

“Turkey has already succeeded in the rapid growth of e-commerce and electronic export markets on a global scale, and it will remain a powerful vehicle,” Pekcan added.

In our country, there are 256 thousand 861 companies currently operating in the e-commerce activity, and this number was 68,457 in 2019.

As of 2020, the volume of e-commerce in Turkey increased by 66 percent compared to 2019, an increase from 136 billion liras to 226.2 billion liras.

In Turkey, 138.4 billion liras of e-commerce consisted of card payments, 80.4 billion liras of electronic transfer / transfer payments, and 7.4 billion liras of door payments.

Explaining the sectors that witnessed the highest increase in e-commerce in 2020, Pekcan continued as follows:

White goods increased by 129 percent, clothes, shoes and accessories increased by 38 percent, electronics by 56 percent, foodstuffs by 61 percent, the home and garden sector, furniture and decor with an increase of 105 percent, and supermarket foodstuffs increased by more than 200 percent, 43 percent. Education and consulting, an increase of 100 percent, and the metallurgy and chemistry sector, an increase of 189 percent. “
