The US welcomes the appointment of Turkey and Armenia to normalize relations

On Wednesday, the US State Department announced its welcome and support for the appointment of the Turkish Foreign Ministry and its Armenian counterpart as special envoys to discuss the normalization process between the two countries.

“We welcome and strongly support the statements of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the appointment of special envoys to discuss the normalization process,” Foreign Minister Anthony Blinken said in a tweet on Twitter.

Today, the Turkish Foreign Minister stated that his country will appoint its former ambassador to Washington, Serdar Kilic, as a special representative regarding normalization with Armenia.

On Tuesday, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced the appointment of a special representative for the normalization of relations with Turkey.

Cavusoglu had made it clear in a special session of the Turkish parliament on Monday that his country’s moves towards normalizing relations with Armenia are being coordinated with Azerbaijan.
