The unit value index for exports decreased by 1.6% and imports by 4.1% in July

According to figures released today by the Turkish Statistical Institute, TURKSTAT, the export unit value index decreased by 1.6% in July compared to the same month of the previous year.

The index increased by 1.1% in the food, beverage and tobacco sector compared to the same month of the previous year, while it increased by 4.2% in raw materials (excluding fuel), 36.8% in fuel, and 0.8% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

Exports volume index decreased by 4.1%

The export volume index decreased by 4.1% in July compared to the same month of the previous year. The index increased by 8.2% in food, beverages and tobacco and 15.4% in raw materials (excluding fuel) compared to the same month of the previous year, while it increased by 34.1% in fuel and 3.7% in manufacturing (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

Decrease in import unit value index by 9.4%

The import unit value index also decreased by 9.4% in July compared to the same month of the previous year. The index increased by 1.1% in the food, beverage and tobacco sector compared to the same month of the previous year, by 12.4% in raw materials (excluding fuel), 36.0% in fuel, and 3.8% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco).

The quantity of imports index increased by 3.1%

The import quantity index increased by 3.1% in July compared to the same month of the previous year. While the index decreased by 26.5% in the food, beverage and tobacco sector and 3.4% in the manufacturing industry (excluding food, beverages and tobacco) compared to the same month of the previous year, raw materials (excluding fuel) were 3.1% and 6.7% in fuel.

The seasonal and calendar-adjusted export volume index increased by 12.4%

According to the seasonally adjusted and calendar series, the export volume index, which was 147.6 in June 2020, increased by 12.4% and became 165.9 in July 2020. According to the revised calendar series. The export volume index, which was 166.5 in July 2019, rose 1.2% to 168.5 in July 2020.

Seasonal and Calendar Adjusted Import Volume Index increased by 5.7%

According to the seasonally adjusted calendar series, the import volume index, which was 124.3 in June 2020, increased by 5.7% and became 131.5 in July 2020. According to the revised calendar series, the import volume index, which was 130.2 in July 2019, increased by 6.4% to 138.5 in July 2020.

The foreign trade terms were 112.4 in July 2020

The rates of trade exchange, which were calculated by dividing the value of the export unit index by the import unit value index, which was 103.5 in July 2019, increased by 8.9 points to reach 112.4 in July 2020.
