On Thursday, the Turkish Embassy in Libya celebrated the 98th anniversary of the founding of the republic.
The ceremony was attended by a number of political and military figures in Libya, including Chief of General Staff Muhammad al-Haddad and Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Siddiq al-Kabir.

In a speech on the occasion, Turkish Ambassador to Libya Kenan Yilmaz said: “We are continuing our efforts for Turkey’s development.
We derive from our solid history and authentic values, united with 84 million citizens.”
“As the centenary of our republic appears on the horizon, we will not allow any force or dirty scenario,” he added.
We will not allow any malicious aggression aimed at obstructing and impeding Turkey from continuing its path.”
Turkey celebrates Republic Day on October 29 of each year, the anniversary of the declaration of the republic by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in 1923.

On the Libyan elections, Yilmaz said: “We support holding elections on their scheduled date on December 24, and we have informed our Libyan friends that we are ready to provide all support in this regard.”
And he added, “With the elections, God willing, Libya will begin a new phase that is safer, more stable, and more prosperous.”
Parliamentary and presidential elections are scheduled for December 24, but they may be hampered by current differences over election laws between the House of Representatives on the one hand.
As well as the Supreme Council of State (consultative parliament), the unity government, and the Presidential Council on the other hand.

This threatens the political breakthrough that Libya has witnessed for months, as it received an elected transitional authority that includes a unity government and a presidential council on March 16.
Its mission is to lead the country to parliamentary and presidential elections on December 24.
