This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov, in a statement to the local “Sputnik” agency.

“The terrorist threat from the territory of Afghanistan to neighboring countries continues,” the Russian official added.

The operations of ISIS, which claimed the Kabul airport bombings on August 26, are still an important factor in the deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan.

Morgulov stressed that “it is unlikely that ISIS will lay down its arms under the current conditions and abandon the idea of building a global caliphate.”

He added, “Moscow does not rule out that ISIS and other terrorist groups will cross the borders of Afghanistan into neighboring countries under the guise of refugees.”

Since last May, the “Taliban” has begun to expand its control in Afghanistan with the start of the final stage of the withdrawal of US forces, which was completed by August 31.

And in the middle of last month, the movement took control of most of the country within 10 days.
