Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday that the United States and NATO had ignored Russia’s concerns in their response to security guarantees over Ukraine and the eastward expansion of Europe.

“They promised us that NATO would not advance an inch towards the east, but they deceived us and acted in another way,” Putin added, in a statement carried by Russia Today.
He added that the United States and NATO ignored Russia’s main concerns in their response to security guarantees.
He accused the West of “using Ukraine as a tool to contain Russia and curb its economic progress.”
