The Turkish “Dar Al-Arqam” endowment opened a school in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, with the support of Turkish philanthropists.

On Tuesday, the Turkish ambassador to Abuja, Hedayat Bayraktar, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Dar Al-Arqam” Endowment, Dogan Gokmen, participated in the opening ceremony of the “Sami Effendi” Turkish International School in Gebisa.

Bayraktar said in a speech during the ceremony that the school will receive more than 250 students from poor families in the region.

He stressed that the Turkish government and people always stand by their African brothers, stressing that education is one of the most important means possible for the development of the African continent.

In turn, Dogan Gokmen said that the school was built with the donations of philanthropists, describing the school as a bridge of friendship between Turkey and Nigeria.
