Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov praised Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s readiness to pursue a policy that takes into account the interests of his people and is not subject to external pressure.
Syromolotov said in his interview with the Russian News Agency (Tass) on Friday about: “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, despite external pressures, is ready to pursue a policy that takes into account the aspirations of his people and is not subject to the dictates of a third party.”
Energy is one of the most important areas of successful cooperation between Russia and Turkey, according to the Russian official, recalling the initiative launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin to establish a gas center in Turkey.

He stressed that the talks are continuing to establish the center, and he welcomed the Turkish side’s enthusiasm for the initiative, their positive role, and their determination to work together.
And last October, Putin expressed his country’s readiness to establish a natural gas distribution center in Turkey, which in the future could be a platform not only for transporting gas, but also for setting the price. Putin said that Turkey has proven to be the most reliable route to supply gas to the European Union.
