Brazilian Marseille defender Luanne Peres gave Montpellier the first goal in the 30th minute from a ball he swept into his own goal before striker Gaetan Laporte followed him with a second goal in the 34th minute.

The second half witnessed a qualitative change in the level of Marseille, who managed to reduce the difference in the 68th minute through the new Turkish arrival, Cengiz Onder, to the ranks of the French club South.

Marseille continued his awakening, pressing hard on his opponent’s areas until captain Dimitri Payet managed to turn the score by scoring two consecutive goals in the 75th and 80th minutes.

The match, in its 89th minute, witnessed some Montpellier fans throwing explosives on the field.
