On Wednesday, the Istanbul Stock Exchange index recorded the highest weekly closing ever, after achieving intraday gains by 1.01 percent to reach 3,880.34 points.

The index rose by 38.78 points compared to the previous close, while the total volume of transactions amounted to 84.7 billion pounds (about 4.55 billion dollars).

The banking sector index rose by 5.20 percent, while the holding companies index rose by 1.19 percent.
