Istanbul hosts the Political Committee of the NATO Assembly

The meeting of the Political Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the joint meeting of the Mediterranean and Middle East Group began in Istanbul.

The opening ceremony of the meeting was held on Tuesday, following the discussion of the report of the Special Group for the Mediterranean and the Middle East.

The head of the Turkish group in the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Osman Ashqen Bak, addressed the audience before holding a session entitled “Turkey’s Defense Policy Priorities”.

In his speech, Buck said that the Russian-Ukrainian war, which began on February 24, has increased international risks in the world.

He added that Turkey expressed its dissatisfaction with the Russian attacks against Ukraine, and that it provided all humanitarian aid to the Ukrainians.

“Turkey immediately activated the terms of the Montreux Straits Agreement, and declared its support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and independence,” he added.
