International Migration calls for raising $7.9 billion in 2024

The United Nations International Organization for Migration announced that it needs aid worth $7.9 billion to carry out its activities and fulfill its obligations during the year 2024.

The organization also added in a statement on Monday that the most prominent goals of its five-year global strategic plan are to save lives.

In addition to protecting people on the move, providing solutions related to displacement, and facilitating paths to regular migration.

It launched an appeal to collect aid worth $7.9 billion to carry out its activities and fulfill its obligations targeting 140 million people around the world.

The statement also quoted the General Coordinator of the United Nations, Amy Pope, as saying that the aforementioned funding:

“It is essential to save lives, protect displaced people, find solutions to displacement and facilitate safe corridors for regular migration.”

“There is strong evidence to suggest that migration, when well managed, contributes significantly to global prosperity and progress,” she added.
