Facebook, the world’s social media giant, announced Thursday that it has changed its name to Meta.
The American company chose the new name in line with its policy to create an integrated virtual world based on 3D technology, known as (Metaverse).

The famous company revealed its new name in a video message to its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, and it was broadcast on social media.
The word (Metaverse) combines the words “meta” and “universe” in English, meaning “the super universe”, and constitutes a kind of digital alternative to the physical world that can be accessed via the Internet.
Metaverse technology is supposed to increase human interactions online by freeing them from physical constraints thanks to virtual and augmented reality technologies.
The new name comes after a scandal involving the company in early October after it revealed Francis Hogan.

She is the former official in the site’s Civil Integrity team for committing “Facebook” a number of violations, including fueling ethnic violence in Ethiopia and Myanmar.
She pointed to the silence of the site about the practices committed by celebrities and public figures under the so-called “white list”.
