On Sunday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan received Acting US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland in the capital, Ankara.
In a blog post on the “X” platform, the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that the meeting took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Ankara.
In turn, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Yildiz said that he met Nuland and held discussions with her about developments in the Middle East and Africa.
It was learned from diplomatic sources that Nuland is visiting Turkey on Sunday and Monday at the invitation of Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Burak Akçabar, within the framework of the Turkish-American strategic mechanism.
The consultations between the two sides will address regional and international issues in addition to Turkish-American relations.
The meetings of the Turkish-American Strategic Mechanism began on April 4, 2022, following a meeting between Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Joe Biden, in October 2021, in the Italian capital, Rome.
