Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recalled with compassion and respect for his late predecessor Turgut Ozal on the 28th anniversary of his death.
This came in a message marking the anniversary of Ozal’s death, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Department on Saturday.
In his message, Erdogan said, “Ozal was a statesman and visionary, and he left a deep imprint in Turkish political life with his ideas, procedures and achievements”.
He noted that Ozal gained the love of the Turkish people thanks to its leadership, democratic and development initiatives, and his exceptional personality.
He also wished mercy to the deceased Ozal on the anniversary of his death, reminding him of respect.
Whereas, Turgut Ozal is the eighth president of the Turkish Republic, as he assumed the presidency in 1989.
He remained in his position until his death on 17 April 1993 at the age of 66.
