Borsa Istanbul started today on a high note

The BIST 100 Index of Borsa Istanbul started today with a 1.2 percent increase at 9,532.38 points.

The Banking Index rose by 1.45 percent and the Holding Index rose by 1.14 percent, while all sector indices rose, with Metal Goods, Machinery and Transportation rising the most with 1.61 percent.

The BIST 100 Index of Borsa Istanbul, which was in a downtrend yesterday, ended today with a 2.12 percent loss at 9,419.66 points.

While a positive trend emerged in the markets after the inflation data announced in the United States in global markets, the monetary policy decisions of the European Central Bank (ECB) became the focus of investors today.

While all eyes are on the balance of payments data to be released in Turkey today, economists participating in the AA Finance Balance of Payments Forecast Survey estimated the current account to have posted a surplus of $749 million in July.

The economists estimated the current account deficit to be $20 billion and $414 million in 2024.

The analysts said that the weekly money and banking statistics will also be followed domestically today, while the European Central Bank’s interest rate decision in the eurozone, the US producer price index, weekly jobless claims and the federal budget balance abroad will also be followed, noting that technically, the 9,600 and 9,750 points in the BIST 100 are resistance levels while the 9,500 and 9,400 points are support levels.
