Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stressed that his country will not allow the region to be reshaped and divided as it happened a century ago.

This came in a speech he delivered on Monday during an iftar banquet with foreign ambassadors accredited to Ankara at the headquarters of the Justice and Development Party in the Turkish capital.

The Turkish president stressed the need for “those who seek to benefit from Syria’s instability by fueling ethnic and religious affiliations to realize that they will not achieve their goals.”

He added: “We will not allow our region to be reshaped and divided on the basis of new maps as it happened a century ago.”

He also stressed the need not to forget that “the fate of those who play the role of mounts in imperialist scenarios is to be thrown aside in the end.”
