The head of the Turkish Presidency’s Communication Department, Fakhruddin Altun, confirmed that the only solution to the Cyprus issue is the existence of two states with equal sovereignty.
Altun said in a tweet on Twitter that the issue cannot be resolved on the island of Cyprus by not recognizing the Turkish presence.

Altun also published a video prepared by the Presidency’s Communication Department, highlighting the history of the Cyprus issue, the talks that did not achieve any results, and Turkey’s role in the issue.
On April 27-29, the “5 + 1” group meetings on Cyprus were held in Geneva.
And without finding sufficient common ground to start formal negotiations to resolve the Cyprus issue, according to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday.
The “5 + 1” group consists of the three guarantor countries (Greece, Turkey and Britain), in addition to the two parts of the island of Cyprus (Turkish and Rumi), in addition to the United Nations.
Since 1974, Cyprus has suffered from a split between Turkey in the north and Rumi in the south.
In 2004, the Greek Cypriots rejected a UN plan to unify the two halves of the island.
Since the collapse of the UN-sponsored Cyprus reunification talks in Switzerland in July 2017, no formal UN-brokered negotiations have taken place to settle the island’s dispute.
