The Jordanian Prince Muhammad bin Talal, the younger brother of the late Jordanian King Hussein who served as his crown prince for 10 years, has passed away.
He died on Thursday at the age of 80, according to the royal palace.
The prince held several senior positions in the Jordanian monarchy, including the position of personal representative of King Abdullah II, who succeeded Hussein after his death in 1999.

Prince Muhammad was born in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on October 2, 1940.
His wife, Princess Taghreed and his two sons from a previous marriage died, and his funeral will take place on Friday.
His death comes at a difficult time for the monarchy, the close Western ally that has long been seen as a bastion of stability.
But it has struggled to contain the health and economic fallout from the Coronavirus epidemic.
As earlier this month, the monarchy was rocked by a rare public conflict after the placement of Prince Hamzah, Abdullah’s half-brother.
While under house arrest, he was also accused of involvement in a foreign-backed conspiracy, and Hamza claimed that the authorities were trying to silence his criticism of corruption and mismanagement.
Days later, Abdullah announced that “sedition” had been “ended in its infancy,” and that the dispute with Hamza had been resolved within the royal family.
