Turkey: The unemployment rate fell to 8.4 percent in May 2024

The unemployment rate in Turkey declined last May to record 8.4 percent.

According to data from the Turkish Statistics Authority on Wednesday, the unemployment rate during May recorded a decline of 0.1 points compared to the previous month, April 2024.

The number of unemployed people in the age group of 15 years and above across Turkey decreased by 27 thousand people in May to reach 3 million and 11 thousand people.

The unemployment rate decreased by 1.1 points compared to the same month in 2023.

The percentage of unemployed among males reached 7 percent and 11 percent among females.

The unemployment rate among young people aged 15 to 24 years recorded 15 percent, an increase of 0.3 points compared to April.

The unemployment rate in the aforementioned age group was 12.8 percent for males and 19.3 percent for females.
