Erdogan: We stand with all our capabilities alongside Morocco

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Saturday that his country stands with Morocco with all its capabilities following the earthquake disaster.

Erdogan said in a statement on the “X” platform, “I extend my best wishes for safety to all the Moroccan people affected by the earthquake disaster.”

He added, “I ask God to have mercy on those who lost their lives, and I wish a speedy recovery for the wounded.”

He concluded, “On this difficult day, we stand by our Moroccan brothers with all our available capabilities.”

An earthquake measuring 7 degrees on the Richter scale, with its epicenter in the Al Haouz region (north), struck several cities, such as the capital, Rabat, Casablanca (the largest cities in the country), Meknes, Fez, and Marrakesh (north), Agadir and Taroudant (central), according to the National Institute of Geophysics (governmental).

The authorities announced in a preliminary toll that the earthquake “caused the death of 632 people and injured 329 others of varying severity, including 51 serious injuries.”
