United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres sent a cable of condolences to Turkey for the victims of the coal mine explosion in Barten state, northern Turkey.

The spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, Stephane Dujarric, said in a press statement that Guterres was “deeply saddened” by the loss of life as a result of the mine explosion in the Amasra area of ​​Barton state.

Guterres expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident and to the Turkish government, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

And on Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that the death toll from the Barten mine explosion had risen to 41.

Energy Minister Fatih Donmez had announced that preliminary investigations showed that the explosion that occurred Friday was caused by a gas leak.
