Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that his country is disturbed by the hostile attitudes of some countries that are supposed to be allies of Ankara.

This came in a speech he delivered during his participation in the graduation ceremony of a batch of students from the National Defense University in the capital, Ankara.
Erdogan added, “We are bothered by the hostile attitudes of countries that are supposed to be our allies, as well as their support for those who adopt such positions.”
He explained that Turkey has become a country that takes the lead by following the strategy of preventing threats from their source.
“By sharing its experiences in the fight against terrorism and defense industries with its friends, Turkey’s generosity has become a game-changer in many places,” he added.

Erdogan praised the heroism of the Turkish army, saying: “Forty days after the failed coup attempt in July 2016, we carried out the Euphrates Shield operation in the north of Syria and dealt painful blows to the terrorist organization ISIS, and we followed that operation with the Olive Branch, the Spring of Peace and the Spring Shield.”
He pointed out that international and regional developments indicate Turkey’s need to strengthen its army with more qualified manpower.
He stated that the global balance of power and management that was established at the end of the first and second world wars was seriously shaken as a result of recent global developments.

Erdogan emphasized that Turkey has always been a stabilizing factor in the Middle East, the Caucasus and the Black Sea during the Cold War years.
He continued, “The difference between us and others is that we have the highest level of ability to turn crises into opportunities thanks to the actions we have taken in the past twenty years.”
He pointed out that Turkey is making all necessary efforts to make optimal use of the opportunities offered by regional and international developments.

President Erdogan reiterated that Turkey does not covet any country’s lands, gains or freedom.
