The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that the first ship loaded with corn, coming from the Ukrainian port of Odessa, will arrive in Istanbul tomorrow, Tuesday.

In a statement on Monday, it added that the Sierra Leone-flagged ship left the port of Odessa at 08:30 (Turkish time).
The statement indicated that the ship will arrive in Istanbul tomorrow, Tuesday, and will be subject to an inspection process by the concerned parties before continuing its journey towards its last destination in Lebanon.
On Monday morning, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that the first ship loaded with corn will leave the Ukrainian port of Odessa under the grain shipment agreement at 08:30 (Turkish time) heading to Lebanon.

The ministry said in a statement that the agreement on the movement of the aforementioned ship came after contacts made by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar with the concerned authorities.
The statement added that the great efforts made at the Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul also contributed to reaching an agreement for the exit of the first ship from the port of Odessa.
The statement indicated that it is planned to move other ships within the framework of the specified procedures and lanes.

On July 22, under the patronage of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, a signing ceremony took place in Istanbul for the “Document on the Initiative for the Safe Shipping of Grain and Foodstuffs from Ukrainian Ports” between Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations.
The agreement guarantees securing exports of grain stuck in the Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea (Eastern Europe) to the world.
