The emergency committee, headed by the head of the organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, held a meeting on October 22, via video conference technology, and the recommendations issued by the meeting were published on Tuesday.

The committee called on member states not to consider receiving the vaccine as a sole condition for international travel, justifying this by “limited global access to vaccines” and “not equitably distributing them.”

The Committee urged countries to pursue a “risk-based” approach to facilitating international travel and to share information with WHO on travel measures taken.

It also called on countries to recognize vaccines that have obtained emergency use authorization from the World Health Organization.
