The US embassy said in a statement that it “urges US citizens to leave Afghanistan immediately through the available options for commercial flights.”

The statement added: “Due to security conditions and staff reduction, the embassy’s ability to assist US citizens in Afghanistan is severely limited even inside Kabul.”

Also, the British Embassy in Kabul advised its nationals to leave Afghanistan “now”.

The embassy said in a tweet on Twitter that it was “advising British nationals to leave Afghanistan now using commercial flights.”

It also asked British nationals to contact the embassy and select “Consular Services for British Citizens” as soon as possible to confirm their departure plans.

Since last May, the level of violence in Afghanistan has escalated with the expansion of the Taliban’s influence.
