Russia has expressed its regret over the decision of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe not to send its observers to the parliamentary elections scheduled for next September.

Deputy Director of the Information Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Bekantov said during a press conference on Thursday in the capital, Moscow.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe notified the Central Election Commission of Russia that it would not monitor the elections due to Russia’s request that the organization reduces the number of observers due to the epidemiological situation.
Bekantov expressed his regret “for the decision not to send observers to the elections.”
Bekantov stressed that the refusal “confirms the need to define clear rules for the work of monitoring missions, with the approval of all OSCE member states.”
