Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced the neutralization of 18,196 terrorists during the last six years.
This came in statements on board the “Canali Ada” ship, which on Friday witnessed the test launch of the first “Atoma” anti-ship missile that came off the serial production line.

After overseeing the test with the army commanders, Minister Akar touched on Turkey’s operations against the PKK terrorist organization, stressing his country’s determination to completely eliminate terrorism.
He pointed out that the Turkish forces will continue their operations against the organization in northern Iraq until the last terrorist is neutralized.
He stated that the Turkish forces have neutralized 18,196 terrorists since July 24, 2015, as counter-terrorism operations have intensified since that date.
He stressed that the Turkish Armed Forces are determined to rid the people of the scourge of terrorism and ensure the security of the country’s borders.

He pointed out that the Turkish army is closely pursuing the terrorists wherever they flee, and that they have no choice but to surrender to justice.
With regard to the test launch of the Atmaja missile, Akar confirmed that the test was successful.
He noted that the proportion of domestic production in the defense industries exceeded 70 percent, thanks to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s leadership, support and encouragement for projects in this framework.
The Atmaja missile managed to score an impressive success in its last test before entering the arsenal of the Turkish Armed Forces by hitting a real ship as its target.

Under the supervision of the Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and the leaders of the Turkish army, the first anti-ship guided missile, after serial production, was able to fully hit its target.
The missile was launched from the warship “Kanali Ada” in the Black Sea.
