Turkish Trade Minister Visits UAE to in Investment Conference

Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat will make an official visit to the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, on Monday, during which he will meet with officials from the country.

According to information from sources in the Turkish Ministry of Trade, during the visit, Minister Bolat will participate in the 14th Annual Investment Meeting (AIM).

The Turkish minister will deliver the opening speech at the leaders’ session, which will be held under the theme: “Foreign Investment as a Catalyst for Global Unity,” according to the sources.

Bulat is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, to discuss bilateral trade, investment, and contracting issues. The Turkish minister will also receive Dawood Al Shazawi, Chairman of the Investment Conference Organizing Committee.

Bulat is scheduled to participate with Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the UAE, in the second session of the Turkey-UAE Economic and Trade Partnership Committee (JETCO), according to sources from the Turkish Ministry of Trade.

The two ministers will also participate in the first session of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEP) Committee between the two countries.

During the meetings and talks, the two sides will discuss several issues, most notably bilateral trade, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (KEOA), investment, contracting, trade finance, the services sector, customs, green transformation, and cooperation with third countries.

Bulat will also meet with Turkish businessmen residing in the UAE at an event organized by the Turkish World Business Council, affiliated with the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK).

Trade between the UAE and Turkey exceeded $16 billion last year, and in the first three months of this year, trade increased by 44 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching $4.8 billion.

The two countries aim to increase trade to $40 billion within five years under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (KEOA), which entered into force on September 1, 2023.

To date, Turkish contracting companies have implemented 149 projects in the UAE with a total value of $17.7 billion. The UAE ranks tenth in terms of the number of projects implemented by Turkish companies.
