Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş called for an emergency session on Friday afternoon to discuss the genocide being committed by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
The Turkish Parliament Presidency said in a statement published Wednesday that Kurtulmuş called for an emergency session at 2:00 PM (GMT+3) on Friday afternoon.
The session is intended to provide a briefing on the Israeli attacks on Gaza and the policies of genocide, injustice, and starvation perpetrated by Israel in Gaza.
The statement indicated that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will brief the General Assembly of Parliament during the emergency session.
Kurtulmuş’s call comes amid the ongoing genocidal war waged by Israel, with US support, on Gaza since October 7, 2023, which includes killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
The genocide left 62,895 Palestinians dead, 158,927 wounded, most of them children and women, more than 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and a famine that killed 313 Palestinians, including 119 children.
