The Turkish Parliament approved on Monday a 24-month extension of the Turkish military mission in Libya, beginning January 2, 2026. The Turkish Presidency had submitted a memorandum to Parliament on December 19, requesting the extension of the mission for Turkish forces in Libya for an additional 24 months. Parliament’s approval followed a vote among its members.

It is worth noting that Turkey deployed its forces to Libya under Article 92 of the Constitution on January 2, 2020. Since then, the mission of Turkish forces in the country has been extended every two years by a memorandum from the Presidency, subject to parliamentary approval.
