Turkish officials denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech in the US Congress.
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz said on social media on Wednesday evening, “The welcome received by an official accused of committing genocide in Gaza before the International Court of Justice in the US Congress is a source of great concern in terms of human values, international law, and the future of democracy.”
Yilmaz stressed that Turkey “will continue to stand by humanitarian law and the oppressed Palestinian people and defend justice and peace for all.”
In turn, Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said, “The society that applauded standing for a murderer being tried before international courts and trampled on all of humanity’s gains in the name of human rights, democracy and justice will remain engraved in the memory of humanity as a partner in this massacre. Shame on you.”

For his part, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said: “History will not forget the oppressors and those who applauded the oppressors who killed children. What happened today is a shameful scene for humanity. We will continue to stand by the oppressed and innocent of our Palestinian brothers.”
On Wednesday evening, Netanyahu delivered a speech before the US Congress amid massive protests by thousands of supporters of Palestine in the streets of Washington, demanding an end to the war and the provision of weapons to Israel.
Since October 7, Israel, with American support, has been waging a war on Gaza that has left more than 129,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
Tel Aviv continues this war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
