
Turkish Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Askarhan and Egyptian Minister of Labor Mohamed Gebran signed a plan on Sunday to implement a memorandum of understanding in the field of labor and employment between the two countries.
This came during Gebran’s reception of Minister Askarhan and his accompanying delegation at his office in the New Administrative Capital, east of Cairo, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Labor.
The ministry said: “The two sides emphasized the historical and strategic relations between the two countries in all fields, and the keenness of the political leadership in both countries to expand joint cooperation.”
“The two sides discussed intensifying cooperation during the coming period and forming a joint committee to implement the memorandum of understanding (in the field of labor and employment) signed between the two countries during the visit of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic (of Egypt), to Turkey in September 2024,” according to the statement.
The ministry also noted that during El-Sisi’s visit to Turkey, “many joint agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed in all fields.”

The statement stated that after the Turkish and Egyptian sides reviewed the vision reached by the Joint Working Committee on Sunday for implementing the agreement (Memorandum of Understanding), they signed the minutes of the meeting and an implementation plan for the agreement.
The two sides affirmed their “desire to develop and expand cooperation in the areas of labor, including labor mobility, training, employment, the labor market, and international relations.”
They also affirmed their desire to “exchange expertise on issues of digital transformation, information, informal labor, occupational safety and health, and all labor relations,” according to the statement.
The two sides discussed “the possibility of the mobility of Egyptian labor to Turkey in the field of seasonal labor, and facilitating the process of obtaining residency and work permits for Turks working in Egypt.”
The members of the delegation accompanying Minister Asakhan included Turkish Ambassador to Cairo Salih Mutlu Şen and the head of the Turkish-Egyptian Parliamentary Friendship Group, MP Mohamed Şahin, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Labor, without specifying the duration of the delegation’s visit.
