Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced on Saturday the arrival of the local satellite “Turksat 6A” to its temporary orbit 50 degrees east.

Uraloğlu explained on the X platform that “Turksat 6A,” the first locally-made Turkish communications satellite, reached its temporary orbit this afternoon.

He added: “The Turksat 6A antennas will be opened and tested for the first time there, and thus Turkey will protect its rights in the 50 degree east orbit.”

He stated that after conducting verification operations lasting 3 months, the satellite will move to an orbit of 42 degrees east in October, where it will serve for 15 years.

The Turkish satellite “Turksat A6” began its journey into space on July 9 by launching it via a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral in Florida, USA.

The local Turksat 6A was more than 80 percent built by Turkish engineers at the USET company, a subsidiary of the Turkish TUSAŞ Aerospace Industries Company.
