The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed its solidarity with Japan following the floods and landslides that caused the loss of at least 20 people in Shizuoka Prefecture, west of the capital, Tokyo.
“We share the grief of the friendly Japanese people and their government,” the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

Earlier Saturday, Shizuoka Prefectural spokesman Sakamichi Sugiyama announced that at least 19 people were missing after a landslide triggered by torrential rains in Atami, a town famous for its hot springs.
