Turkey: AFAD warns of thunderstorm for 4 provinces tomorrow

A statement posted on the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority’s (AFAD) social media account stated that based on the latest information, an orange warning has been issued for the provinces of Rize, Giresun, Trabzon, and Artvin until noon tomorrow due to thunderstorms.

The statement indicated that flooding has occurred in the region as a result of two days of heavy rain. It also noted that response efforts are continuing to the reports received within the framework of the Turkish Disaster Response Plan (TAMP).

The statement indicated that Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Oraloğlu, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) President Ali Hamza Pehlivan, and department heads have traveled to Rize to coordinate ongoing response efforts in the region.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, citizens were urged to exercise caution and be aware of adverse events such as landslides, floods, lightning, and transportation disruptions.

Especially in light of soil saturation, and to heed the warnings of the relevant authorities.
