Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır said that the Turkish satellite “Turksat 6A” has reached its final circular orbit.
In his speech at a ceremony held by the Turkish Foundation for Technological and Scientific Research “TUBITAK” on Wednesday evening, Kacır said: “Turksat 6A has now settled in a circular orbit at an altitude of 35,786 kilometers, which is the orbit of its last mission.”
He noted that Turkey is now one of 11 countries that can produce its own communications satellite.
The domestic Turksat 6A was more than 80 percent built by Turkish engineers at USET, a subsidiary of the Turkish TUSAŞ Aerospace Industries Company.
Turksat 6A will be able to provide service to areas not served by current Turkish satellites, such as India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Thus, the population reached by satellites will increase from 3.5 billion to 5 billion, and exports of Turkish satellite services are expected to increase.
