UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Friday evening that the “catastrophe” in Gaza represents a “complete collapse of our humanity” amid the ongoing Israeli war of extermination on the Strip for more than 14 months.
Guterres said in a post on the X platform: “The catastrophe in Gaza is nothing but a complete collapse of our humanity.”
He added, “This nightmare must stop.”
The UN Secretary-General stressed that “we cannot continue to turn a blind eye” to what is happening in the Strip.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 150,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
Israel continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
