Istanbul Airport ranked first in the “Top 10 International Airports in the World” survey organized every year by the Travel and Leisure Organization, receiving 95.79 points from readers.
The awards ceremony for the US-based travel and entertainment magazine, which has a monthly readership of more than 16 million, was held in New York, USA, and the award was presented to IGA’s Deputy General Manager of Operations at Istanbul Airport, Mehmet Buyukkaytan.
Buyukkaytan, who included his speech at the ceremony in the statement, stated that he was happy to obtain first place in the vote in which they competed with their competitors from all over the world.
Buyukkaytan said: “We believe that travel is a unique story and that every trip should provide an ideal experience that adapts to different needs and expectations,” and added, “As Istanbul’s IGA airport, we shape our services according to the needs of passengers by giving priority to passenger satisfaction, and in this regard, these services Which we provide with the personal contributions of our colleagues.” We are very happy that it has been well received by our travelers,” he commented.

In the research, based on feedback from Travel and Leisure readers, airports were evaluated in terms of arrivals, check-in, security, food and beverage areas, shopping and design.
Other airports put to vote in the poll include Changi Airport (Singapore), Hamad International Airport (Qatar), Dubai International Airport, Incheon International Airport (South Korea), Abu Dhabi International Airport (UAE), Haneda International Airport (Japan). Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (India), Hong Kong International Airport and Osaka International Airport (Japan).
IGA Istanbul Airport participated in Travel and Leisure magazine’s survey for the first time in 2021 and became the first Turkish airport on the list.
