Palestine’s representative to the Security Council, Riyad Mansour, said that entire Palestinian families were wiped out and communities forcibly uprooted in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israel’s war of extermination.
During his address to the Security Council on Thursday, Mansour said, “We are faced with two choices: either justice or revenge.” He added, “There is no family in Gaza that does not have a martyr, a prisoner, a wounded person, or a displaced person.”
The Palestinian representative rejected incitement against Palestinian civilians in Gaza or any justification for the collective punishment practiced by Israel, emphasizing that “Palestinians in Gaza have the right to life and to live in peace and dignity on the land of their ancestors.”

He emphasized that “the renewed Israeli military operations in Gaza confirm that Netanyahu does not care about the lives of prisoners, and that the goal is to destroy the Palestinian people as a means of seizing their land.”
He reiterated the commitment to a ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring security for the Palestinian people. Since resuming its genocide in Gaza at dawn on Tuesday and until Thursday evening, Israel has killed 591 Palestinians and injured 1,042 others, the majority of whom are women and children, according to official figures from the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 162,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them women and children, and more than 14,000 missing.
