Among those participating in the protest were Esther Benbasa, a French parliamentarian born in Istanbul, and unaccompanied minor immigrants.

In their speeches during the protest, activists demanded that the French authorities stop the mistreatment they practice against immigrants.

The protesters chanted slogans such as “Protect minors (from immigrants)” and “Freedom, equality, brotherhood.”

Speaking at the event, Ludovic Holbein, founder of the “Mass Hunger on the Borders” initiative, said nearly 2,500 migrants in and around Calais struggle to survive in makeshift camps.

He added that the French authorities raid the area every few days, clearing it of irregular migrants, and throwing their belongings and supplies in the trash.

He pointed out that the ill-treatment of irregular migrants in Calais has been going on for 30 years.

The French government faces constant criticism for its mistreatment of irregular migrants in the country.
