Our agricultural exports reached 212 countries and regions in 2023

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country exported 2,200 types of agricultural products to 212 countries and regions in 2023.

President Erdogan participated in the meeting of the Advisory Council of the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture in Turkey, which was held in Ankara on Tuesday on the occasion of World Farmers’ Day, corresponding to May 14.

In his speech, President Erdogan pointed out that agricultural data clearly show the great progress the country has achieved in the agricultural sector over the past 21 years.

He explained that Turkey’s agricultural GDP is at the forefront in Europe and among the top ten in the world.

He pointed out that Turkey ranks first in the world in the production of hazelnuts, figs, cherries and apricots, fourth in vegetable production, and fifth in fruit production.

He stated that Türkiye exported 2,200 types of agricultural products to 212 countries and regions in 2023.

He reported that the value of agricultural product exports rose from $3.8 billion in 2002 to $31 billion in 2023 thanks to support and investments in this field.

He added: “We will ensure the transition to planned agricultural production, and by registering all agricultural areas we will increase the number of farmers benefiting from the support.”

Since 1984, World Farmers’ Day has been celebrated annually on the anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP), which was founded on May 14, 1946.
