The automotive industry achieved its highest 10-month exports ever on a sectoral basis, reaching $30 billion 511 million 79 thousand in the period from January to October 2024, with an increase of 6.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The increase in the export figures of this sector in Turkey, which has recently become a hub for global automotive manufacturers due to reasons such as its proximity to the European market and labor force potential, has attracted attention.
According to information collected from the data of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Turkey’s exports increased by 3.2 percent in the period from January to October compared to the same period of the previous year and recorded $216 billion 383 million 305 thousand.
Thus, the automotive industry renewed its export record by exporting more than $30 billion for the first time between January and October, and the sector achieved exports worth $28 billion 652 million 177 thousand in the same period last year.
The share of automotive industry exports in total exports was calculated as 14.1 percent in the January-October period.
When viewed at the provincial level, the highest exports in the automotive industry during the ten months of the year were from Kocaeli with $7.8 billion, while automobile exports during the mentioned period amounted to $6.9 billion from Istanbul, $6.1 billion from Bursa, $4.7 billion from Sakarya, and $1.2 billion from Ankara.
The highest exports in the automotive industry came to Germany at $4 billion, followed by the United Kingdom at $3.5 billion, France at $3.4 billion, Italy at $2.7 billion, and Spain at $2 billion.
