Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş said that they may hold a special session of parliament on Israel’s expansionist and aggressive policies in the region and the measures that Turkey could take against them.

This came in a joint press conference he held with his Macedonian counterpart, Efrem Gashi, on Thursday after a meeting between them at the parliament headquarters in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Kurtulmuş stated that since the beginning of the Israeli attack on Gaza, they have issued warnings whenever they saw the Israeli government and its leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, and his gang not respecting the rules, not respecting the decisions and recommendations of all international organizations, not adhering to human rights in any way, and not respecting the sovereignty of the countries of the region.

He pointed out that the Israeli government, which is protected by the United States and some of its allies, exploiting the division between the countries of the region, is not only targeting Palestinians, but all the peoples of the region (the Middle East) in order to establish the so-called “Promised Land.”

Kurtulmuş explained that the crimes against humanity committed by Israel are increasing day after day.

He stressed that all of humanity must do everything in its power to stop the Israeli aggression.

He said: “We will discuss the issue of holding a special session with the parties that have blocs in parliament, and the meeting will be held in the presence of relevant ministers in a closed session on Israel’s expansionist and aggressive policies in the region and the measures that Turkey can develop in this regard.”

Since September 23, Israel has launched the “most violent and extensive” attack on Lebanon since the beginning of the confrontations with Hezbollah about a year ago, resulting in no less than 1,119 deaths, including children and women, 3,040 wounded, and 1.2 million displaced, according to official Lebanese data.

In contrast, sirens continue to sound at an unprecedented rate across Israel following Hezbollah’s heavy firing of missiles, drones and artillery shells targeting military sites and settlements, amid a strict Israeli blackout on human and material losses, according to observers.

Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably Hezbollah, have been exchanging daily shelling with the Israeli army across the “Blue Line” since October 8, 2023, resulting in a total of no less than 1,974 deaths and 9,384 injuries, including 97 medical and emergency personnel, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

These factions are demanding an end to the genocide committed by Israel, with American support, in the Gaza Strip since October 7; which has left more than 138,000 Palestinians dead and injured, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and a deadly famine in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
