Istanbul hosts more than 11 million tourists in 8 months

The city of Istanbul received more than 11 million tourists during the eight months of this year.

A statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Sunday stated that the number of tourists last August increased by 4.9 percent compared to last year and reached 1,747,611 tourists.

It added that the total number of tourists during the eight months of this year reached 11 million, 524 thousand and 246 tourists.

The Russians topped the list of foreign tourists with 179,017, then the Germans with 127,487, then the Iranians with 101,459, according to the ministry’s data for the month of August.

Among the Arab countries, Saudi Arabia ranked first, Iraq ranked second, and Kuwait ranked third.
